Colours of Faith
Good morning Friends.
I trust you had a blessed week. Today by God’s Grace, we will continue on our colour series as we examine one of the most foundational primary colours in God’s Kingdom; Faith.
As defined by Hebrews 11:1, Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a substance.
Faith is a substance of things/realities/thoughts/imaginations expected to happen in the future.
Faith is the title deed, evidence, the physical manifestation of the unseen realm.
Faith is the picture of what we cannot picture… smiles.
For example, Christ is the image of the invisible God. God is invisible and no man has seen God at any time but Christ who dwells in the bosom of the Father hath declared and revealed Him. Christ gives God a form and dimensions. Christ is the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person. So, when we want to see what God looks like, we simply examine Christ, because everything God is, is mirrored in Christ. Therefore, Christ is God in light, sound and motion.
Faith is one of the most easily misconstrued concepts in the Bible as teachers attempt to bring out several *revs* from its multidimensional scope of perspectives. I love *revs* as well, but today, I primarily seek to build understanding in you than excite you with tingling new discoveries. Faith is a fundamental subject and must be approached on a step by step exigencies. I cannot obviously cover the whole landscape today or ever… but I’ll be sharing a few colours that I believe will establish you in this present truth. Are you ready?
1. Faith is a Substance: A substance is something that one can relate with in the experience of one or all of the five senses. That simple. If you cannot relate with it by hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling or touching it… then it is not a substance, yet! Faith is empirical! Faith is not spooky or esotheric, faith is a substance that humanity can relate with. Glory to God! I just delivered somebody out there. That is why Apostle James said that any faith that doesn’t have a physical dimension of expression to it is dead. That is, it doesn’t exist. Any faith that remains in your head, in your imagination and your thinking is still hope, awaiting conversion into faith. For it to become faith, there must be a conversion from that state of lack of substance to a state where it is substantiated and becomes an evidence to humanity. Therefore in essence, it must move from your head, to your mouth, hands and feet for it to manifest genuine faith tendencies.
Therefore, if anyone tells you “I know I’m going to be rich” and you ask him “how do you mean you know?” and he says “because I believe that God says I will be rich and I’ve been thinking about monies in different currencies, the many places I’ll travel to and the several things I’ll own once I become rich” but you in fact cannot see him NOW, demonstrating in clear tangible terms, evidences and substances of someone planning to be wealthy, he will eventually become very wealthy and stupendously rich… in his mind but never in reality. For you to convert your hope into faith, you MUST substantiate it with your Words and Actions! Not words alone… but the Words that drive you into conviction-driven Actions.
2. Faith Enters into your Space through your Ear Gate: You have absolutely no idea how much influence what you ear overtime has on your belief system and ultimately your actions and your predictable outcome. When I see what a man pays attention to, I can predict where that man will end up. When one walks with the fools, who have no valuable thing to talk about other than mundane and irrelevant news, the Bible predicts destruction for such a company. But when you walk with the wise, who have a premium and value on The Word, the Bible predicts a steady and consistent growth in such a company. By all means within your power, guard your ears, for they are the doorways to your heart where your greatest treasures lie. Simply because your treasure is in a locked chest in your locked room does not mean you leave your gate open. You attempt to prevent trespass begins from the gate. Whichever thief goes through the gate can forcefully enter into your room and break open your chest. Don’t make statements like “I’m only listening, it is not affecting me…”, “we’re just friends, they’re not influencing me”, it is like saying, “it’s only my gates that are open, the real treasure chest is locked, they can’t steal it even if they come in through the gate”. Why risk allowing robbers in your environment when there is a tendency for theft?
Once you consistently hear a pattern of reality that is not consistent with The Word, and it begins to determine your thoughts and behaviour, hence your actions and therefore your reality. Even when you wish for something good to happen, what will eventually happen are the things your firmly rooted belief system has already projected for you to expect. Your confessions nonetheless, your dominant thoughts which are a function of your dominant “hearings” will overpower your confessions!
Romans 10:17 (NKJV): Now Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
3. Faith Always Works: Some people believe, that faith sometimes works and sometimes, it doesn’t… perhaps when God is not in the mood. Beloved! Faith always works. If Physical laws are predictable to work based on some pre-established premises, then much more spiritual laws. If when anything is thrown up, it always comes down provided it’s within the orbit of the earth’s gravitational pull, then anything God calls a spiritual law works by an even more compelling predictability and assurance of efficiency. Faith is a law in God and it always works, provided all premises necessary for its working are ensured. The moment God becomes erratic and unpredictable, then the things which His Word has declared forever settled, become shaky and imbalanced. If God were all sovereign and unpredictable, we could not worship Him or hope to have a relationship with him. Madness in another word is “unpredictability”. People are scared of a mad man simply because you have no idea what he would do next and he doesn’t govern himself by basic human laws. He laughs when nothing is funny, eats what is to be disposed of, and could hit you with a mallet simply because he doesn’t enjoy the shape of your shoe. God put everything about Himself in His Word and chose to submit to the dictates of His Word willingly… That is why His Word reigns and rules above all. Because God chose to submit to His Own Word, and His Word already establishes a pathway that ensures the working of faith, every time it is engaged.
When Jesus spoke to that fig tree, He had no iota of doubt in His mind about whether the tree will dry up or not because Faith simply never fails. If it failed, it wasn’t faith, if it failed, perhaps, the will of God for that time wasn’t for the exercise of faith, but the putting forth of trust in His sovereignty. An example of such difference was when Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane… that was not a time to exercise Faith, but a time to trust God and rely on His love for Him. He couldn’t confess crucifixion away, he had to go through it believing that God had resurrection in mind. That is why we must pray often for God to fill us with the knowledge of His will per time. But as for Faith… nothing in the entire Universe could make faith fail.
Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
I’ll stop here for today, a lot has been shared already and I hope they blessed your heart… keep your fingers crossed friends, perhaps, a book where an in-depth teaching on these subjects is brewing. God bless your heart.
Have a fantastic week ahead.
