I trust you had an exciting weekend. Today by God’s Grace, we will continue in the series of teachings on The Book of Daniel. I believe it’s been an exciting one. Without further ado, let’s delve straight into the lesson of the day.
Daniel 2:14-15 (KJV) Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon: note note
15 He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
This is quite an interesting picture to relate with, but I’ll try to bring it home. So a certain thing happened that got the irrefutable King of Babylon so furious that he ordered that Daniel along with other officers alike be killed at once. The General in charge of the menslayers, Arioch enters into Daniel’s compound with his host, weapons and ammunition ready to execute the King’s order. He reports to no other but the King… and then Daniel literally gets to have a sane “conversation” with him… and influenced him to stall his execution plans. How many of us can still manage to remember our names at gun point? We literally lose every form of composure we had once we are faced with such a dire situation.
How could someone be planning to kill you and you end up having a civil conversation with him? That is the Spirit of Wisdom at work. There is a dimension of the Wisdom of God that takes away the possibility of resistance from its hearers.
Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
The scriptural verse says that God can give you a mouth and a wisdom, which none of your adversaries will ever be able to gainsay or resist. You will be literally speaking according to the ability that God Himself gives, like an oracle of God.
Many years ago, I once found myself in a situation where I was kidnapped and trust me, it was literally impossible to find my way out of that situation. I was among about 4 men who were poised to do with me what they had planned, which could easily have been killing me. Don’t ask me how I got myself in that situation (the much I can say is that it was my first real trip outside Lagos State, alone). For the most part initially, I was completely in with them on all the lies they were spitting about we making lots of money from turning white bundles of paper into crisp Naira notes. According to them, all they needed from me was the money to buy the chemicals that turned the papers to Naira notes. They claimed to have had 600Million Naira worth of those paper bundles and that I’ll get one fifth of that after conversion. (Btw, these are no fables, I experienced this first hand) They really had gotten me. I couldn’t shout, run or fight my away out of there, I needed a supply of the Spirit.
While they were still speaking, a call from my Mum came in, I couldn’t pick up but it was as though the call came with a spiritual help. I suddenly received a supernatural empowerment of the Spirit of Wisdom and I began to speak with them with so much calm and boldness. It was such that everything I said was received and believed by them. Talk about conning con men! I had a first-hand experience. I sincerely have no idea where those words were coming from, because they sure were not from my head. After speaking with these blood thirsty men about how I didn’t need their money and how that my Father (Heavenly Father) was a stupendously rich oil magnet, and how that I didn’t carry much cash around. I then told them to write down their account details and that I’ll wire their requested amount to them first thing on Monday (the incident happened on a Saturday), and that they shouldn’t worry about we all sharing the profits from the paper deal, that I really didn’t need their money. I then told one of them to lead me to the nearest bus stop since I had no idea how I got there and he stood up and led me there without saying a single word. Once I got to the bus stop, that help was lifted from me and all the fear and trepidation came on me so strongly. I was dumbfounded as I thought through it all. I could have easily died and no one would realize. it all happened in a tiny hut in a very remote area in Ibadan.
The con men couldn’t resist the power behind those words and they had to give heed. I strongly believe that this dimension of God’s grace is strongly linked with peace and calm. You cannot be perturbed and anxious about many things and be used in a mighty way to walk in the Spirit of Wisdom and Counsel. Daniel was not perturbed, he literally queried the haste of the King because atmospherically, he was the one in charge and not Nebuchadnezzar.
Friends, these spiritual resources are available for our use today. Once Arioch got to Daniel, the atmosphere of fear and anxieties usually experienced by the other targets of execution was turned to that of calm and understanding. Arioch listened to Daniel and heeded his request because Daniel operated by a higher dimension of Wisdom and Counsel. Imagine if you went into every business pitch with this supernatural ability? This is a joke though, but imagine if you could ask the woman of your dreams out with this empowerment? Every “player” will be a part time Christian, however short lived. Hehehe.
Isaiah 11:1-2 (KJV) And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
The Holy Spirit gives the access to this supernatural ability to folks at the instance of love. Anyone who doesn’t walk in love is a dangerous host to this ability and they will consume it upon their lust. Daniel used that gift to save all the Magicians, Astrologers and Chaldeans from death because these are God’s gifts and He is tilted to giving folks who will bless lives with it. So here is a call to grow your love walk. Even though you need to covet the best of spiritual gifts, the most excellent way is the way of Love. Praise God forevermore.
