Wow Series 4

by Damilola Oguntunde

Good morning Friend.

Wow series indeed has been WOW!!! And I’m grateful to God for the insights He has given us in this season to see a bit deeper into the eternal mystery of His Wisdom. I do hope however that you’re putting these timeless truths to good use. These realities can be applied across board… Family, Health, Finance, Business, Career, Ministry and Relationships. Always make decisions today that will be deemed wise tomorrow and you’d be just fine.

Just to further buttress the point we made in the last post about how wise men live in the present, with the privilege of hindsight to make formidable plans about the future. You will also realise that this state of Wisdom is also true of God. God saw the impending hell man was doomed to end up in, made a decision before the foundation of the world to forestall that by giving up His Son to save us from our sins. See how far reaching His vision is. We haven’t even gotten to that end that God saw before He gave up His Son, we’re still living in the process of time. The farther a man sees into the future before making a decision today, the wiser he is. God’s foresight wasn’t limited to time, it spanned through eternity… No wonder 1 Tim 1:17 calls Him the ONLY WISE GOD. Please read up the previous posts if you haven’t.

Today we will consider the second vital point in the value chain of God’s kind of Wisdom. This quality was the first expression of God’s Wisdom in the life of King Solomon.

In 1 Kings 3, there were two prostitutes living in the same house who both had babies of about the same days old. Over the night, one of the babies died because its own mother laid on it over the night. When the mother of the dead child saw that, just before dawn, she exchanged the babies and replaced the living child of her neighbour with her dead one. By morning the matter got to the King and he did the most amazing thing. He asked for a sword to cut the living baby into two so each of them could have half, since they both claimed the child. He had no real intention of doing this, it was simply to discern and judge between them. Eventually, it became obvious who the real mother was… The other woman insisted it would be fair to do just that (cutting the baby in two), while the real mother would rather have her child alive but away from her than have a dead half of her precious baby. That alone in itself is pregnant with revelation, but today isn’t for that. This brings me to this vital point;

2. Wisdom is the Understanding of Difference: What I want us to glean from this story is the fact that King Solomon was saddled with the responsibility of perceiving difference! The moment the people heard of his ability to Judge/discern/differentiate, they all marvelled and concluded that he was a wise King. Brethren, Wisdom is the understanding of difference. If you’re someone who just lumps up things together with the way you approach life, you’re being unwise. Wise people understand differences. They judge between two or more options and choose the most excellent way. That is why you must pray the Pauline Prayer in

Phillipians 1:9-10(KJV) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

A man of Wisdom doesn’t approve everything! He approves, endorses and executes only things that are excellent. He knows the difference. Only foolish children will honour their parents the same way they honour other elders. There is a difference! It’s good to honour all men, scriptures encourages that, but that doesn’t promise us long life like honouring our parents does. There is a difference. Honouring men is good, but your Pastors, Teachers and Instructors deserve double honour as Bible teaches and that’s because there is a difference… 1 Tim 5:17. Loving people is awesome, God commands us to do that, but loving God is even more important, there is a difference.

When Abraham wanted to sacrifice to God in Genesis 15, I saw a man who knew what belonged to God and how to treat such. A bird wanted to perch on the sacrifice, he was so quick to drive it away because he had high regard for anything that belonged to God. Tithing is an expression of this mystery, it is different from offering, it is different from other types of giving… This one is done in honour of God and His faithfulness, it must be done with utmost understanding and honour. Proverbs 3:9. Abraham gave to God with such reverence but today we find reasons that make us think tithing is a thing of the past which we need not practice anymore. We must give it today with a superior understanding but not an inferior reverence. I don’t know about you, but I won’t cease giving to God a portion of my income with reverence and godly fear, call it what you may… I call it Tithe! It doesn’t have to be 10% but I doubt if the nomenclature really matters to God. We must honour, magnify and revere the things of God. It is sad and utterly unwise to commonise what God hallows. There is a difference between the outer court, holy place and the holiest of all. A huge difference between a lay man and a levite or priest, you ask Uzzah. There is a difference between having sex with a lady you “may” get married to and having sex with your wife. There is a world of difference. One is fornication, the other is Worship. The list is endless! Let us consider these things and make adjustments. If you realise your life has no order, it’s perhaps due to the fact that you do not understand difference. When a man understands difference, his life takes a new turn. Order, increase and multiplication become the order of the day.

How do you understand difference? By the fear of God… The fear of God is the beginning of understanding difference. Psalms 111:10, Proverbs 1:7, 9:10. If Ananias and Saphira knew this, they would have understood the difference between lying to government officials and lying to the Holy Spirit. The fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom folks. Do you fear and revere God? The New Testament has not edited away that cannon, that’s because it’s a fundamental part of our Christian walk. Heb 12:28-29… Let no one preach you out of this. Noah was moved with godly fear in the preparing of the ark that saved himself and his household from the impending flood. There is an impending flood brethren, and only those who fear the Lord enough will prepare their arks according to the pattern of scripture to preserve their lot.

Ask God today to give you a heart that perceives and discerns correctly. God bless you.

Awesome. More grace Sir. The Lord continue to bless you and increase you in wisdom.
Wisdom doesn’t just see the present. It see way into the future. And it makes decisions based on how it perceives the future to be. And if difference is not understood at this point it would just be terrible. I’m blessed and I’ve increased in wisdom.
