I trust you’re at peace, especially in seasons like this where literally all there is to report on the news is COVID-19, which does cause hearts to be troubled and to be afraid. In such a time Jesus promises us peace. Not the kind of peace that situations can perturb but one that is above the reach of life itself.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
There has been such a massive injection of fear into the environment, it’s so palpable you can almost cut through it. But do not be afraid.
The believer has never been left without comfort, hope and confidence. We have peace right in the middle of the storm and we also have the responsibility to deploy our peace in areas most affected by the pandemic by sending our prayers their way.
If you actually believe the Bible as the written Word of God to you, I’d like to share a quick thought with you. The reason why I use “if” is because many who profess to be Chrsitians actually do not believe the Bible, because if they did, their heart response in times like this will not be panic, but intercession. So let me share this quickly, The Bible says, (paraphrase) that before you begin to think of the possibility of any disease coming near your dwelling, it must have affected at least 11,000 people in your immediate environment.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
It means that if the magnitude of havoc wrecked by a plague hasn’t gotten to 11,000 (not 11,000 outside your country or continent, 11,000 within your immediate environment…), then you have no business thinking you’re at risk. And even if 11,000 people have become victims of the pandemic, there is a command over that virus that it must not come near you. From the last count, about 22 have been infected. So you see how literally impossible it is for the virus to locate you or your loved ones? As believers though, we don’t gloat in the fact that it will never touch us, no matter how many people it affects, we take responsibility and begin to dispel darkness by interceding for those who have been affected.
For a believer who has The Word of God in his/or heart, this is the exact time to stand strong in what you have believed and have your faith tested. Panic is the response of a heart who is not stayed on God’s Word, to pandemics. Keep your heart on Him, He’s got you. And not just you, but everyone connected to you and everyone you can spread His banner over via intercession.
Please keep prescribed hygiene standards but much more, keep your heart fixed on God.
Now that that has been addressed… today, we continue with the series we started about 2 months ago on the Holy Spirit and we want to examine an interesting reality about the function of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
John 16:7-15 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Jesus says here that The Holy Spirit Guides us into ALL truth. Bearing in mind here that Jesus Christ is the Truth as clearly stated in John 14:6, I’ll be sharing 3 things about this little phrase right here;
1. ALL Truth can only be found in Jesus Christ: The Holy Spirit in a bid to guide us into all truth, limits the curriculum of study to Christ. If the Holy Spirit ever succeeds at teaching you anything and He taught you Christ, then you have been taught everything! Jesus says how He guides into all truth is that He does not speak of Himself, but He simply retells what He hears to the believer. I know a lot of people out there are full of knowledge and secular wisdom, but those kinds of knowledge can never add up to equate truth. Truth is of a kind of knowledge, and it’s the Knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. If I know Jesus by the help of the Holy Spirit, I know Truth. Praise God! Do you know Truth?
2. We cannot locate Truth by ourselves: Here again we see an inherent truth in that phrase. If we can only be guided into truth, it means we cannot figure it out on our own. That means, we would always need some help in matters relating to truth. We see some teachers who attempt to figure out Scriptures via critical thinking and logical reasoning… it usually lands them in trouble. You need to be guided, else you have no chance at finding that truth. Our understanding is not required in our pursuit of truth, it is His revelation in our hearts that produces the spiritual understanding essential to assimilating truth. Praise God!
3. It is a Possibility to be Guided into ALL truth: This is such a tall order, but the Bible agrees with its possibility. That is, a believer can be so guided by the Holy Spirit into ALL the dimensions of the revelation available in Christ concerning every situation he finds himself or herself. That is, there are no grey areas for the believer, everything is as clear and lucid as day, because he has within him, the One who guides into ALL truth per time. The believer doesn’t ever have to be confused, you never have to be meandering and wandering through the multiple challenges that come your way. You can overcome every challenge by locating the truth about that situation. That truth is not found in the science laboratory, it is found in being guided by the Holy Spirit into the truth of that situation.
These are the three things I want you to keep in mind as you go on into experiencing life… you don’t have to go through that life all by yourself, without a helper. You do have a Helper, a Guide, a Counsellor who is duty bound to lead you into ALL Truth. He was sent from Heaven to do that and He is committed to doing exactly that with regards to your life. Maximise Him, spend some time with Him, pray in the Spirit often and interact with that Super Guiding Spirit. Your life will never remain the same again.
By the next post, I’ll be sharing with you on the disruptive power of The Holy Spirit as we look closer into His ability to show you things to come! I’m super excited about that dimension of His assignment as it has the ability to completely hand power to the believer. Don’t miss that for anything!
I trust this has been a blessing. Let me hear from you. Have a productive week.
God bless your hearts!
