Learning to Soar with The Holy Spirit – Leading into All Truth

by Damilola Oguntunde

Hi Pal,

I trust the weekend was truly magical?????

Today, we will be going a step further in our understanding of the Assignment of the Holy Spirit as we focus on His essential role in the life of the believer.

In the last 3 posts, we considered His assignment in the world; To Reprove the World of Sin, Righteousness and Judgment and those have been a blessing. Please do well to read up on them if you haven’t. Today, we will zoom in on His assignment in the life of a believer!

Jesus in John 16, made it clear that it was expedient that He left, so that the Holy Spirit could be released to come. The reason for Jesus’ strong argument for the release of the Holy Spirit was primarily because of the unique ability of the Holy Spirit to impart truth. Jesus admitted that indeed the personality that can comprehensively convey the Truth (Jesus Christ Himself) to the believer isn’t Jesus, but The Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself is truth, but He isn’t the communicator of Truth, The Holy Spirit is. He is the One with the unique ability to furnish the believer with the body of Knowledge called Christ.

John 16:7‭-‬15 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Now you may wonder, why couldn’t the Apostles of Chrsit bear the things He wanted to but couldn’t share with them? Why were they unable to receive those things? Well, because the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is what gives us the capacity of understand The Holy Scriptures; the Body of Truth! Without Him, we will make a mess of the Bible and have no understanding of what it says.

2 Peter 1:19‭-‬21 KJV
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Holy men received the inspiration to write the Scriptures as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, we also have no chance to understand the Scriptures without the unveiling of The Holy Spirit. The Apostles are also not exempted from this weakness. No matter how long Jesus spent with them, they really couldn’t come to know Jesus intimately via His word without the Person of The Holy Spirit. He is the Unveiler of The Christ! So we see why it was expedient for Jesus to leave?

The primary function of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to help us understand the Word of God, who is Christ! Revelations 19:13. Now this needs to be established in our hearts, because a lot of people assume the function of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to anoint us to perform miracles, receive words of knowledge and flow in the gifts of the Spirit, but NO! Jesus clearly stated His priority purpose in our lives; To Guide Us Into ALL Truth! Hear this friends, the most remarkable sign that we have optimised the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is in our capacity to detect and disarm deception! The devil is called the deceiver, and how he deceives, is by twisting truth and presenting a false and perverted version of truth for believers to absorb and begin to live their lives by. Anyone with a good command of TRUTH by the help of the Holy Spirit is impervious to the deception of the enemy. For nothing can be done against THE TRUTH but for THE TRUTH! How in touch with the truth are you?

The divergence between Truth and one’s understanding of Truth is the loophole the devil is exploiting to attack the believer. Our ultimate goal is to constantly be in pursuit of TRUTH by the help of The Holy Spirit and reduce that divergence. For example, folks who let themselves believe that a prophet is more in touch with the reality of their own lives especially with respect to who they should marry than themselves will be at the mercy of the enemy’s manipulative tendencies. The truth you don’t know is a loophole and an open wall in the realm of the spirit, close it up!

How do you that?

By making a commitment to spend good time in The Word of God and asking The Holy Spirit to explain these timeless truths to you. I’ve been healed of Asthma, Hepatitis B, etc., simply because I know the truth of God’s Word concerning my health and I meditate on it. That is the Holy Spirit’s most delightful task in your life. He wants you to not just embrace Him but engage Him. Let His capacity to lead you into all truth be maximised in your life.

Next week, I’ll share with you the limitless riches found in the art of focused meditation. It will remarkably change your life!

I hope this blessed your heart like it did mine. This series has been really mind blowing for me and it does look like God is on to something with us.

Let me hear from you!

Have a beautiful week ahead!

God bless your heart!
