New Creation Prayer (24)

by Damilola Oguntunde

Good morning Divine Perspective Readers. I trust we had a productive week. We are gradually drawing to the end of this really amazing series; New Creation Prayers. I know it’s probably not the most interesting Christian topic to blog on, but you bet it’s sure one of the most important subjects every believer must get himself acquainted with. Today, we continue on the 5 basic principles we must understand and apply as believers that will chart a course to the supernatural dimension in our lives. We have not been designed by God to leave ordinary, impactless and tasteless lives. There are 2 things God calls believers, these things are radical agents of change; Salt and Light. Matthew 5:13 and 14 makes it clear that we are indeed the Salt of the earth and the Light of the world. There’s no denying the impact of Salt or Light, many at times we underestimate their importance until they are absent and then we know how much of impact they had. There’s no preservation and sustenance without Salt, and there’s no development without Light. These forces are such a powerful force upon the earth and their impact is undeniable. That is exactly how a believer is meant to be in every area of his life. We cannot have such an impact without expressing the power of God. The essence of this power is to be a witness of Jesus to the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Jesus knows nothing can propagate the Gospel like Power will and so He urged the apostles not to as much as lift a finger until they receive the Power from on high. In the last post, we discussed 3 powerful principles to engage in operating the supernatural in our lives. Just a quick recap; Have A Humble Heart, Walk In Love and Don’t Be Ignorant. Please if you’re yet to read the last post, do endeavour to do so before continuing with this train of thoughts. The 4th basic principle for working and walking in the supernatural is;

4. Desire: There are only a few forces on earth that are stronger than the power of DESIRE. Desire is not a wish, it is not a convenient aspiration, desire is not a faint whisper in the crowded hallway of requests, desire is not the comfortable acceptance of fate, desire is not the readiness to go with the flow… Desire however is the “unputdownable” (it’s actually a new word in the dictionary) spirit, desire is that fervour that never gives up, gives in or gets turned off. Desire was what got Blind Barthemeus Jesus’ attention, Desire was what got the woman with the issue of blood healed of her infirmity even amidst an impossible crowd, Jesus desired to have us forever with Him in heaven and then He came to save us. Desire will get you to any length in God. Paul cried out of a desireous desperation in Phil 3 that he may know Jesus and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings being made conformable unto his death. What would make a man who had already written 5 books of the New Testament, which was already more than what any other Apostle ever attempted, still cry out for more knowledge of his Lord and Saviour? The answer is DESIRE. Paul rounded off his teaching in 1 Cor 12:31 with the word DESIRE. He said we need to strongly DESIRE the best gifts. If you do not desire to walk in the supernatural, guess what? You won’t! You will hear every testimony there is but you will never experience it yourself. There’s a continuous level of hunger and thirst that is required in the kingdom for proper development.

Luke 1:53 (KJV) He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

God only fills hungry people, not folks who believe they already have all that there is to have in the kingdom. The most dangerous attitude in the kingdom of God is that of pride… Never feel like you have arrived because there is always so much more to thirst and desire for. David said one thing have I desired, and that will I seek after… The proof of desire has always been pursuit and will always be. If you really really desire the gifts and power of the Spirit, then you will seek and pursue God like never before, just to have a taste of the supernatural. Believers, there is more. There is much more beyond what we have been taught all our lives about God and His power. He has no need for His power, except to use it on our behalf. He wants to move on our behalf, but some of us are so flaccid and full of drudgery that even if God put some fire on us, we would quench it with our drenched wood. Let’s strongly desire the best gifts and soon enough, we would begin to operate in them. Your realities are usually a picture of your strongest and most pursued desires.

5. Believe: Permit me to say… “This thing no be by gra gra, na by Faith o”. You don’t cast out devils with perspiration and the volume of your voice. It’s simply by Faith. If you don’t believe, there’s really no point trying, because you won’t get any result in the school of the Spirit. Jesus simply said “GO” to the legion resident in the mad man of Gadara, and they ran violently… The devils are the ones to get violent and aggressive when we are exercising our authority in Christ Jesus, while we remain calm and at peace. He that believeth will not make haste, neither will he become apprehensive. A.A Allen, one of the God’s Generals in the early 20th century once entered a village disturbed by a demoniac who had possessed a woman. Every minister who ever entered into that village tried casting the demons out but all to no avail, then A.A Allen came around and was told about the woman’s predicament. He went near her and whispered into her ears… suddenly she regained her sanity and was immediately calm, everyone was awed and praised God. Out of curiosity, a brother nearby asked him what he whispered into her ears, and he said “I simply told her A.A Allen is around”. What violence, aggression and apprehension could not do in years, faith did in an instant. It was not that A.A Allen was holier than the other guys that had tried their spiritual machismo on the situation, because we see that Peter said in Acts 3:12, 16 that it wasn’t his holiness that got the lame man saved, it was Faith in the name of Jesus that got the job done. I don’t care how long you’ve been a Christian, you’re not older than the devil and he has no regard for you. There is only one thing that gets him running; Faith in the name of Jesus. Phil 2 did not say at the mention of your spiritual resume, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, it says at the mention of the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus, but much more than just having the name, we must put Faith in that name. Faith will ALWAYS be God’s pattern for appropriating EVERYTHING Redemption stands for.

Gal 3:5 (KJV) He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Acts 3:12 &16 (KJV) And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? 16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

To walk in the supernatural, you’re not to believe in your own strength, holiness or perfection, else you will always fall short. You are to believe in the righteousness bestowed upon you by Christ Jesus. The next time you see your friend sick, lay your hands on him and rebuke the sickness and you can be 100% sure you will ALWAYS get the result. “Trust the devil”, he will always come to remind you of your past shortcomings. He wants you to use those feelings of condemnation to disqualify yourself from wielding the power of God. Have you ever wondered why the devil always suggests lies of condemnation to the believer? If his allegations were true he really won’t have to always try to remind us about it, because if they were true, we would be disqualified anyways, whether we feel condemned or not, but because he is such a liar, he would need to convince you so you can convince yourself that you’re not worthy to use the name of Jesus or claim a blessing in Christ, and then you will by your own self disqualify yourself from expressing the power of the most High. The power of God is not for a secluded few, it’s for every child of God who believes. Desire the best gifts and stay in faith as you see God do the supernatural. We would be rounding off the New Creation Prayers on Monday. Have a remarkable weekend. I love you 🙂
