Good morning DPR, I trust your week was productive. I want us to have in mind that how we spend eternity is almost completely dependent on how we live our lives on earth, and that’s why fulfilling God’s will for our lives is the most important priority for any believer. When we get to the other side of the eternal divide, the money we got while doing everything but God’s will would not count for anything, what matters in eternity is our degree of yieldedness. Yieldedness is the degree to which God is indeed LORD over our lives. We’re still on New Creation Prayers and we zoomed in on the core focus our prayers should have. We learned that what God wants for us more than anything, is for our eyes of understanding to be enlightened. When this happens, we will know more of Him in all Wisdom. When we get to know Him, we will ultimately know ourselves, and that’s when we will begin to live a life full of purpose and intent. Do we now see how all these are linked? Many folks walk through the earth trying to discover themselves and find out what their life is about, when God’s design is for them to first find Him and then they can find themselves. What is your life about? Do you know it? Are you just another extra statistic in the census or another head in a count? Do you know for sure where your kingdom is? where God had placed you to rule and reign?
1 Cor 14:7 (KJV) And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
I have learned a lot about purpose from that verse of scripture. I learned that even things without human life give distinct sound, and that if they make uncertain sound, nobody will regard their expressions, it would be noise and not sound. We must know this; Our lives ought to give a distinct sound, and not uncertain sounds. If lifeless things have a purpose to their sound, how much more a believing human being who has been regenerated and blood washed. Our lives are about one thing. Jesus said one thing is needful, David said one thing have I desired, Paul said but this one thing I do. Our lives really shouldn’t be about many things but about the one thing God has ordained us for. If you live your life trying to be everyone else but you, guess what? You will neither be those people nor yourself. No-one is better at being you apart from you. God designed you to make a distinct sound for Him on earth, no other human vessel can produce that sound quite as good as you will. He wants to hear that sound, that unique expression of Himself on the earth realm. Also realise that only distinct sounds can call for a battle. Take it or take it, life is a battle field, and only purpose driven men and women are qualified to even combat at such a level in the battle of life. The devil doesn’t trouble those whose lives aren’t going anywhere anyways, they’re already doing a better job at ruining their own lives than he could ever try, so he just lets them be… but for us who are on assignment for Jesus, doing the will of the Father, he would throw all his light weight against us in an attempt to hinder us. But glory to God we are more than conquerors through Christ that loves us. Your life is meant to make a distinct sound that ought to prepare people for battle. There is so much to say about purpose… so much that Dr Myles Munroe of blessed memory lived all his life unraveling the complexities that mystify the concept of purpose, and he sure did justice to that subject, but there’s still more to know about purpose. Like I always say, man’s biggest infirmity is not cancer, or ebola or hepatitis, it is simply ignorance of our life’s purpose. Should everyone solve the purpose problem, and there will be absolutely no problem left on earth unsolved. We were all wired to solve a specific problem on earth. For Prophet Jerry, it was to be a prophet to Israel. What’s yours? Let me illustrate with this popular analogy. If two men are given the same tool, for example a blunt cutlass. The task before them is to each cut down the same kind of tree and are given 10 hours apiece. One may think to himself, “I have no time, let me just begin cutting already”. The other may say, “let me spend the first 5 hours sharpening the tool and cut for the rest 5 hours”. Who do you think will cut the tree down faster?
Sharpening the tool might seem like a delay in time initially, but it’s a strategy that increases productivity in the long run. Discovering God’s purpose for your life is worth seeking God for and being sure about. It’s ok to spend a good part of your time discovering that purpose and then the rest fulfilling it than to just run off doing your thing from the outset and be left without a mark of distinction at the end. Jesus waited 30 years before he lifted a finger to perform any miracle, but in just three and a half years, He was done with all He needed to do on earth.
Nehemiah 4:1(KJV) But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builder the wall, he was wroth and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Another lesson we must learn on our way to fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives is that, 10 out of 10 people who live for God on a purpose will definitely have resistance and hindrances on their way. It’s like swimming against the tide and expecting no resistance. The devil will ALWAYS fight what he fears. He fears the possibility of God’s purpose on your life coming to fruition and he wants to fight it. He fought Moses at birth, he fought Jesus at birth, he plagued young David with a dysfunctional family, and here we see how he raised up Sanballat to be a stumbling block to the purpose of God in the heart of Nehemiah and the Jews. All you need to be sure about is the fact that you have been called on that assignment by God, as long as you’re sure of that, the devil can only try, he can’t win. Your purpose is stronger than your breath. We established in the last post how your breath us directly linked with your purpose. God ordained and prepared you for such a time as this. Your life is meant to count for something noteworthy, and you won’t fulfil that call by trying every possible means to get some money and then “settle down”. Live on purpose with the understanding that the devil will attempt to attack you but you must rest assured that you’re more than a conqueror.
Jer 1:5 (KJV) Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee…
The real us is the purpose God had for our lives and not the material element called “body”. Before our body was formed, God said He knew us, that means the “us” He knew was not our body but our spirit and the purpose we carried. Many of us show up on the earth and then begin a never ending vicious cycle of vanity on this body that wasn’t the reason for our existence in the first place. We look in the mirror and admire the body, we go to school so we can improve on the socio-economic worth of that body and mind, we get the best degrees so we can cater to the needs of this body; food, shelter and clothing. More money would mean, better food, nicer shelter and more clothing. Meanwhile our spirit and purpose cry for expression, but we are too busy providing for an afterthought (our body), that we lose touch with the essence of life (Purpose). The reason we needed a body was because we were first a purpose, and the purpose needed a suit to function on earth, so God made the body to house the purpose so the purpose can be properly poised to express itself. We need to find the voice of our spirit, the language of that voice is purpose. The Spirit only leads where the will, plan and purpose of God in known and pursued. The next time you look in the mirror, choose to see beyond the thin layer of skin covering up the giant sized purpose within you. Seek God, find yourself, and chase after His purpose for your life with all your breath, because that’s exactly what your breath was meant for.
Col 4:12 (KJV) Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Churches, saluteth yoyo, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, THAT YOU STAND PERFECT AND COMPLETE IN ALL THE WILL OF GOD.
You sure don’t want to miss the next post. Have a great weekend.
