New Creation Prayers (15)

by Damilola Oguntunde

Good morning Divine Perspective Readers. I trust you’re rounding off your work for the year in grand style? It’s been a remarkable year 2015 for me. I remember writing down 10 goals as inspired at the beginning of the year, and now that I look back to it, 8 out of 10 of those things have been accomplished. Thanks to God, isn’t He just awesome? And we still have 13 days to go in the year, that’s more than double the number of days it took God to begin, furnish and finish the creation of the world… So I’m more than confident that 13 days is too much for God to show up on the rest of the goals. So what if I don’t get to accomplish the remaining 2 goals? I’ll praise God still. God has been too good to me for me to hoard His praise because of what I felt should have been done and wasn’t done. He’s been too good. By the way, He also did a lot of things I had not written down or hoped for, He sure knows how to beat our thoughts and imagination. Oh well… we’re still on New Creation Prayers series and it’s been a really insightful series. We shared on the importance of speaking in tongues often in the last post and we’re going to round off on that today.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

This is by far one of the most popular verses in the bible. A lot of unbelievers even know it and quote it with no sense of apology, especially when they’re trying to justify a wrong act that probably led to some good in the end. It’s funny how many folks never get past the first phrase. People seem to neglect the part that says “to them that love God and are the called…” Another critical thing to note in this verse are the proceeding verses which emphasise the importance of speaking in tongues. So here is a brief narrative… From verse 26, the Bible makes us understand that we do not always know the right things to pray for because we’re limited in the knowledge of what we believe is best for us, but thank God we have a Comforter, Helper, Standby, Strengthener, Advocate, Counsellor and INTERCESSOR in the person of the Holy Spirit, who through our cooperation with Him, makes perfect requests to God on our behalf according to the WILL of God. So it’s like God Himself making a request of Himself, He can’t possibly be denied can He? God has a will, He puts it in our mouth through tongues so we can authorise His intervention into our lives, and then He directs it back to Himself for implementation, what a God! There is no possibility for unanswered prayers in tongues. Since the day of Pentecost, there’s yet to be an unanswered prayer in tongues. It is after the Holy Spirit has been engaged to take hold together with us in the place of praying in tongues, that we now have the popular verse 28 which says “and we know, that all things work together…” So for all things to indeed work together, there are 3 primary prerequisites;

1. We must pray in tongues
2. We must love God
3. We must be called and aligned to His purpose for our lives.

When we do these 3 things, we can be almost sure that come hell or high waters, the call of God over our lives will speak forth at the end. You can’t miss it in tongues, you may miss it in understanding, but NEVER in tongues.

1 Cor 14:2 (KJV) For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

When we speak in tongues, amazing things happen that we know not of. Verse 26 of Romans 8 says “we don’t know…” but after praying in tongues in verse 27, then verse 28 says “we know…” There is definitely something about speaking in tongues that erases every iota of doubt in our hearts. No wonder Jude said it’s our most holy faith. That is, on the platform of speaking in tongues, the margin for doubt is non existent. When you pray in tongues, you pray directly from your spirit, which has no doubt inherent in it. Maybe as at today, verse 26 seems to be your reality, you’re probably always talking about how you don’t know, how you don’t have, how you don’t believe. You don’t know where the next meal is coming from, you don’t know who to trust, you don’t know what God has called you to do in this life, you don’t know this, you don’t know that… but glory to God, verse 26 is not the end of the journey for you. You still have verse 27 that gives you the strategy of praying in tongues and verse 28 gives you the result already. You might not know what God’s call upon your life is today, you might be clueless about the plan of God for your life right now, but there is a knower on your inside, He is called The Holy Ghost. He knows all things and knows YOUR things as well, He will help you pray out the perfect will of God. Before you know what’s happening, the right people and things will begin to frame themselves up around you, locating you, and aligning for you.

Psalms 16:6 (KJV) The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delighteth in his way.

That the lines are fallen for you in pleasant places is not a function of your calculation, logic and reasoning, it has everything to do with the invisible hand of God behind the scene, empowered by tongues, engineering things on your behalf. When your steps are supernaturally being ordered, you realise that it’s not really about you or what you have done, it’s about what the God has made happen for you by His Spirit. I know we have shared a lot on the lines of purpose and the call of God, but like I said in the last post, I’ll recommend this as the first and the last step for discovering God’s call, with every other thing coming in between. Your life is about to take a drastic and dramatic turn around for the better as your begin to engage the power of the Holy Spirit in praying out mysteries, which no man (including yourself) can undo. If only God understands it, then only God can undo it, but thank God He will never undo it, He would always answer. His thoughts towards us are always of good and not of evil to bring us to that expected end He had planned for us from the foundation of the world. We shall continue on our series on Monday. Decide to speak in tongues more in the coming year and you will definitely see a huge positive turn around in your life. You will experience more revelation knowledge from the Word of God, more direction from the Spirit, and a much more fulfilling life. Begin today… It doesn’t have to be for long hours. You can start with few minutes, as long as you’re consistent. Principles that produce results beg repetition! By the time you begin to see the effect of praying in the spirit manifesting in your life, you will be more encouraged to pray more in tongues. I hope this blessed you, please remember to share. Have a fabulous weekend and a Merry Christmas in advance. 🙂
