New Creation Prayers (22)

by Damilola Oguntunde

Good morning Divine Perspective Readers. I trust the year is going great. God has rolled up His sleeves, so better get ready for the miraculous power of God at work on your behalf this year. We continue on the New Creation Prayers today, and we have zeroed in on the exceeding greatness of God’s power towards those who believe. Our emphasis has been on the fact that God’s power is not available to those who practice legalism and religion, but to those who simply believe by Faith, and Faith only. The righteous MUST live by HIS OWN Faith; his Faith in The Christ and His finished works. Do we even believe that God’s power is real? It has almost become a common thing for believers to see a manifestation of the power of God and suddenly become critical. There seems to just be this aversion for the supernatural dimension of God. People seem to forget that the GOSPEL IS THE POWER of God unto Salvation. No one can get born again without a considerably high voltage of supernatural power involved and transmitted in the process. We must understand our fire power as believers in order for us to maximise all that God has in store for us. The demonstration of the power of God was a very common place in the early Church and even under the old covenant. The reason why the devil can deceive many with spectacular signs is because they have not experienced the orginal. There is real power and God’s got it. You can’t find a fake 2000 Naira note for example, because the original does not exist. The mere existence of “Fake” is the exact proof of the reality of “Original”. So common were genuine Holy Ghost inspired miracles in the early Church that ordinary people performed signs and wonders without any sense of restraints or inferiority. It is in this day we find people say things like “our man of God”… In many of such cases, there has been an over exaltation of a person as the channel of God’s power to them, when they could directly tap into the limitless flow of God’s Power. Every child of God is entitled to the demonstration of the power of God in remarkable ways.

Ephesians 1:19-23 (KJV) 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Paul said here that the power made available to them that believe is according to a certain working of power. The same power that was responsible for the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and His ascension on High. What a power!!! This power is not the normal resurrection power that rose Lazarus from the dead, how do I know? Because Lazarus died again at a later date, but the power that raised Jesus from the dead went to hell and raised Him up, brought Him back to life on earth, and then couriered Him to heavenly places far beyond the reach of all the evil forces of this world combined. Jesus conquered on three different grounds with three different authorities and became the supreme Lord of all… legitimately. He conquered in hell, on earth and in heaven… Wherefore God has highly exalted His name, that at the mention of that world overcoming name, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess the Lord Jesus; whether things beneath the earth, on earth or far above the earth… Everything must bow to the King Jesus. The power that is at work within us is that same power that raised Jesus from the dead and that power is available in our spirit. Glory to God!! We must believe this to work in it. God wants us to work in His world overcoming power. Come to think of it, who did Jesus get the power for? When He stripped the devil of his clout and made a public show of him triumphing over him in hell, who did He do all that for? Who did Jesus make all the power in heaven and on earth available for?

Matt 28:18 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Luke 9:1 (KJV) 9 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Jesus got the power for the Church! He doesn’t need the power in heaven. In heaven, there are no demons to cast out, no sick people to heal, no darkness to obliterate, no flesh to conquer… Jesus got the power for us down here. He has relinquished His supreme power to the Church who is known as the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.

Eph 1:22 (KJV) 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The power that raised Jesus from the dead is available for the use of the Church. The Church is the body of Christ. Christ can do nothing on earth without His Body. He has put all things under the feet of the Church, and the feet belongs to the Body. If all things seem not to be under Jesus’ feet, it is because the Church is not enforcing the already won victory over the power of darkness.

Hebrews 10:12-13(KJV) 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool

Jesus is expecting? Did you read that? If Jesus needed anything done, He would just do it already, why would He be expecting something that He can make happen? Well, because Jesus cannot make it happen, that is why He is expecting the Church to make it happen. If Jesus could, He would have, but can’t, that is why He is expecting US to do something about enforcing His victory. We are not apart from Him. We are the ones to stamp our foot on the authority God has given us and put the devil in his place. He has done His job and sat down at the right hand of God, it ‘s left for His body to stand up and make His enemies indeed His footstool. The Church needs to get into the full blown demonstration of the Spirit and the Power of God, that is how to enforce the victory He handed over to us over 2000 years ago. That is why we need to pray that we may know what is the greatness of God’s power towards us as believers according to the working of the resurrection power. He didn’t fight so He could become powerful, He had been powerful before He ever thought of leaving heaven for earth. He fought because He wanted man to become powerful again. So he took upon himself the form of a human servant and was declared the son of God according to the Spirit of Holiness, having submitted Himself to the death on the cross, thereby breaking the jaw and hold of sin on mankind. This gave back to us, the power we lost in Eden. This is the gospel, this is the big deal, this is the big picture… In the end, it is all about Power… The power of God to love man, save man and destroy everything that stands in the way of that love. I know I have said a lot, but I pray that may God give us understanding of all things in Jesus name. We would be considering the pathway to experiencing The Power of God in our next post. Have a wonderful weekend. EXPECT THE SUPERNATURAL!!!
