One Crown, 3 Nails and a Couple of Sticks

by Damilola Oguntunde

Good morning Friends,

I trust you had a refreshing weekend.

Today, we will briefly reminisce on the Love of God. The Love of God is one of those touch points we must return to ever so often. You don’t hear a message on the Love of God and think you understand it all already. This Love is far beyond what we could ever ask or imagine. It’s the most remarkable revelation you will ever come to terms with.

When God wants us to understand His Love, He doesn’t ask us to feel it, He says we should BEHOLD it…

1 John 3:1 (KJV)
BEHOLD, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Because ultimately, the Love of God is not a feeling, but a revelation. When you behold it by revelation, then the intense feeling comes all over you like liquid fire. When it comes to God’s love, you don’t feel to know, you know to feel. It’s beautiful when we think about His love to us and for us. When a man tells a woman “I love you”, that is still a joke compared to when God, the creator of the ends of the earth, the Grand Master of the Universe, the only One that needs no one else to exist and stay fine… When He tells you “I love you…” It’s on a whole new level.

We often see ladies fall prey of dishonest men who say they love them, and the reason they get carried away by that is because they have not experienced the genuine love of God towards them. Once you experience that genuine, pure and sincere love of God towards you, you can easily recognise the adulterated ones out there. You don’t know fake Naira notes by checking out all the fake notes, it’s by knowing the original one to such a degree that once you touch the fake… Everything in you knows “this ain’t right!”.

Today I want us to BEHOLD the love of God towards us. He had so much to say to us, but He chose a crown of thorns, 3 nails and a couple of sticks… And said it all. You can’t improve on that statement of Love. When you consider how FAR Jesus’ Love went (from the heavens of the heavens down to earth as a frail vulnerable baby who had no place to be born save a stable meant for sheep)… When you consider how WIDE His Love covered (He didn’t come to save only the Jews from whom He shared decent… He came for the remission of the sins of the entire world. 1 John 2:2)… When you consider how DEEP His Love plunged (How He went deep into hell and vanquished the powers of hell by making an open show of them… Triumphing over them right on their own turf)… When you consider how HIGH He soared (When He was raised from the dead, far above principalities and powers and might and dominion and every name that is named both in this world and in that which is to come… And put you in charge of that authority He brokered)…

When you consider all that He did for you… Between the moment The Word became flesh in Mary’s womb till He alarmed “It is finished”… When I consider it all… a song breaks loose in my spirit…

“I remember all you’ve done for me
your perfect sacrifice and victory
I remember all you’ve done for me oh my God
I worship You today
Oh oh I worship you today”

I worship Him today and forever, because nothing in this entire world can separate me from this quality of love.

Today I’d like to encourage you, It doesn’t matter what you’re going through, even if the business doesn’t blossom, and monies are not entering your bank account, and all your clients and debtors are not responding, even if your license was ceased and you perhaps went bankrupt… Perhaps you have a good reason to sulk, be depressed and gloomy… But hey, those who know the Love of God rejoice in the Lord and joy in the God of their salvation because while they respond in joy and not complaints and nagging, God is already strengthening their hands and making those feet like hinds’ feet .. in the end, He sets them upon their high places.

Habakkuk 4:17 (KJV): Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

In this world, only one factor defines us… The Love of God. We are not defined by our history, circumstances or predicaments, we are only defined by God’s Love towards us.

That’s some good news isn’t it? And the next time the devil wants you drawn into that pity party arena where he attempts to lie to you of how God has abandoned you and all the issues you have to deal with… Look away and BEHOLD that ancient hill, where He hung between heaven and earth, plastered on a couple of sticks with three 9 inch long nails and a bloody crown… Once you behold that in your heart … Then you will realise how much of a conqueror you already are in Him.

Romans 8:37 (KJV) Nay, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loves us.

Have a remarkable week ahead.
