Good morning Friend. How are you doing today? I trust your weekend went well. Last week, we began sharing on the Cross and the message it contains for the New Creation, which we would continue with today by God’s Grace. The Cross teaches quite a lot of valuable lessons we could apply to our lives. I realised that the Cross is the ultimate display of God’s wisdom. It may seem foolish to the world, but in it lies the most potent strategy for transfer and transformation of hell bound folks into glorious liberty.
1 Cor 1:18 (KJV) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
When I see the Cross, I can’t help but admire the wisdom of God in His choice of billboard for displaying a glorious future. I’ll explain what I mean in a bit. When the world system wants to advertise a nice product, they put their best foot forward and paint a perfect picture of that product in their ads and marketing efforts. They magnify the benefits of the product to the exclusion of its side effect or shortcomings. They pay a celebrity to pose on the bill boards and paint a picture of perfection and ultimate satisfaction. They project much more than what is obtainable and give off a false sense of fulfilment. Don’t be deceived folks, It’s a mirage! It’s all a marketing scheme to get your money.
God’s marketing strategy for the glorious future He has for you has a slightly different concept about it. The Cross serves as the basis of its configuration. Jesus was about to be crowned King in all dispensations of existence (heaven, earth and hell), He was about to be given the highest honour known in all eternity and guess how God marketed this; The Cross! The Cross is not the pendant you hang on your neck as an accessory or the sign you make just before facing a daunting task… The Cross is not pretty, it’s full of bloody stains, it’s gory, a weird couple of sticks hanging somewhere in between heaven and earth on a mount of skulls. Ugly as it may seem, it’s the bridge to glory. The Cross is the consummation of the eternal plan of redemption for mankind. The Cross is that heaven’s joker the devil never saw coming. It was the grand move that would unsettle hell for a long long eternity to come. God cannot improve on the wisdom of the Cross This is ALWAYS how God displays the billboard of the glorious future you carry. For Esau, God locked it up in unattractive birthright that didn’t seem to have a present value in the light of current situations and circumstances and needs. For Joseph God locked up his destiny at the end of the pit, slavery and prison.
Psalms105:19 (KJV) Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.
Psalms 66:12 (KJV) Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
I see Jesus praying and groaning in the second garden; a type and shadow of the first, where Adam originally lost dominion. This one is called Gethsemane. He comes in, falls on His knees and begins to groan and ask the Father to make this Cross and its consequences pass over Him… At this point, all Jesus sees are the thorns, the piercings, the blood and water, the vinegar, the departure of the divine presence, the nails, the stripes… When he sees all these, He slumps into anguish and depression and begins to plead with The Father to let the cup pass over. I particularly like how God encourages His Son. He told Jesus to look further into that cup of fury. That wasn’t all the cup had in store for Him. The sufferings aren’t all there is to your life, it’s only a billboard, the core of your life is glorious!!! So when Jesus looks deeper into that cup of fury, He sees you, He sees me, He sees all the many sons that will be brought into glorious adoption, He sees the exaltation and magnification of His name to the zenith of authority, He sees resurrection, He sees ascension, and then bam!!! He is emboldened by the picture of the glory and picks up Himself.
Heb 12:1-2 (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The same Jesus who at some point in that garden had his heart darkened by the weight of the sufferings, stood up with an unusual boldness and zeal for the same Cross. What had changed? The picture of the glory. He was so emboldened that when the soldiers came to seize him, by the time He was done introducing Himself as I AM, they were all flat on their faces. They couldn’t handle the countenance of glory He now had radiating on Him. A compelling vision of your destination will keep you through your sufferings. Look unto Jesus, it was for the joy set before Him that He endured the cross and despised the shame and now… Eternal glory trails His path.
It’s the same with us brethren, let us go through our processes with patience and endurance, looking unto that glorious end. You will have to carry your own DNA CROSS. The one tailor made for you. Carry that cross with Grace, because just behind all that blood and vinegar, there is a crown of glory that never fades. Be wise enough to spot a glory billboard when you see one and be on your way to an expected end. I love you.
