As I decided to write on this topic, I had a feeling that one of the Push buttons authors might just have spoken about this at some point. Having felt this way, I took solace in Apostle Peter’s charge in second Peter 1:12 to all those who have been given a faith as equally precious as his;
“I won’t hesitate to continually remind you of these truths, even though you are aware of them and are well established in the present measure of truth you have already embraced. (TPT)”
So, let’s proceed.
1 Samuel 17:8–10 says
“8. Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me.
9 If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.”
10 And the Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.”
You are familiar with this Story, I mean our Senior Pastor did an expository teaching on the 18th of June, 2023 on First Samuel 17. You can check it out here.
As Pastor taught, something kept reoccurring to me and that’s what I want to share with you today.
Goliath had been tormenting/taunting the Israelites for Forty-days, morning and evening i.e. Eighty Times . He even called them servants of Saul and the Bible tells us that the Israelites were terrified and deeply shaken (1 Sam 1:11 NLT). But when David showed up, he had a different perspective. By the way, they are not servants of Saul, they are the Armies of the Living God (1 Sam 17:26).
Psalm 105:17a says He sent a man before them.
Judges 6:16 “And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”
There are things we are waiting on the Lord to do for us, do in our community, do in facets of our Lives and if you look at God on the Throne, He is “waiting” on a Man to do something. So, when next you & I ask a question about where is God? Maybe, just maybe a Man has refused to show up.
- Imagine if David didn’t show up, probably Goliath would still be taunting the Israelites till date. Lolz
- How about if Joseph refused to be sent — a civilization might have been wiped.
- Consider that Abraham didn’t go to rescue Lot — he doesn’t meet Melchizedek.
- Have you contemplated Moses finally not going to speak with Pharoah about Israel’s exodus?
- What if Gideon didn’t go in his might?
And they all could have said (and stopped there) we are waiting on the LORD to do some thing (I think Gideon said a variant of this sha though).
Goliath had given Israelite the 411 from the Beginning, he said GIVE ME A MAN.
Things are happening around us and they are asking to be given a MAN — and yes there is a stature this Man must have.
1 Sam 16 vs 18
“18 Then one of the servants answered and said, “Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.”
This man is/has:
- Skillful.
- Courageous.
- A Man of War.
- Prudent.
- Comely.
- GOD WITH HIM.
Friends, I perceive that someone might be waiting on someone to come “deliver” them and they are right, by God, you are that Person: go in this your might.
Stay diligent, be strategic, be audacious, take personal responsibility and execute ruthlessly. Say I hear
Ayomide: I hear you, Sir.
Alas, this is not an exaltation of Man — it is giving perspective to things (and choosing to focus on a said topic).
To tell you how serious the matter is, the psalmist had to say What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? (Psalm 8:4 NKJV). God is looking for whom to layer his Power on their skills (2 Chronicles 16:9). He is able to use His power in us to do exceeding abundant things.
God is able to distribute glory to his Creation; He is the Father of Glory and still He is God, Almighty and very Secured in his Position (Isaiah 44:6).
We know that it is Man that is seen doing the deed, People see only you doing the work but you are not deceived, it is God all the way doing it. You Gerrit? if you don’t gerrit, check this out.
So, this is what I wanted to remind us about as we go into this week and prepare to close the first half of the Year 2023.
Do have a blessed week!
I remain a fellow Comrade serving with you to actualize the LORD’s Agenda.
